CELEBRATIONS
BIRTHDAYS: Each child's birthday is celebrated as
close to their birth date as possible. Children with summer
birthdays will have the option to celebrate their half
birthdays if desired. Birthdays are assigned on the snack
calendar so the birthday child can bring in a snack of
his/her choice. As always nutritious snacks are encouraged.
FAMILY PICNIC: Join other Emerson families as we start
the school year and get to know each other. Fun and games
are planned for all! See the School Calendar for this yearly
event.
DECEMBER CELEBRATION: Families are welcome as we celebrate
the season in our non-denominational Celebration of working
together. In lieu of personal gifts during the holidays
parents are encouraged to help support the school by giving
a gift to the classroom, Wish List suggestions will be
posted on the information board.
VALENTINES DAY: Valentines day is the one holiday that we
continue to celebrate. It gives the children an opportunity
to make connections with one another in meaningful ways. Our
celebration is low key with the children decorating bags
ahead of time to hang in the hallway where others can
deliver cards. Each child will take his/her bag home to open
at the end of the day. Parents are encouraged to help their
children make simple homemade cards for each classmate and
teacher.
SPECIAL PERSON NIGHT: This much anticipated annual event
gives children the opportunity to bring a special person/s
(Dad, grandparents, etc) into their classroom to see and be
a part of the Emerson experience. Activities are planned by
the Board and volunteers for the children to participate in
with their special person/s. See School Calendar for this
yearly Spring event.
LAST DAY OF SCHOOL PICNIC: As the school year comes to a
close Emerson families are encouraged to join us in our
celebration of the last day of school. Fun activities are
planned for all to participate in. The children are
presented with Personal Portfolio's, documenting the
work/play they have participated in throughout the year.
FUNDRAISING
Emerson School is a non-profit organization supported
exclusively by tuition, gifts and fundraising events. The
school depends on various activities to keep our tuition
low. We hope that all families will participate in
fundraising events throughout the year. Here is a list of
fundraisers broken down by month for easier planning:
SEPTEMBER
Emerson T-Shirts:
A great way to show your school spirit! An order form is
included in your welcome packet and will be available the
first couple weeks of school.
NOVEMBER
Original Works:
In
November we will hold our Original Works fundraiser where
the children will create artwork of their choice in the

arrive in in time to make
great Holiday gifts. We will also send home
instructions for siblings if you would like them to
participate as well.
